Georgia-Pacific is commited to being an environmentally responsable company. Georgia-Pacific worldwide will manage operations and develop, produce, distribute and market products in a manner that protects the environment and the health and safety of employees, customers, contractors and the communities in which we operate, while fully complying with applicable laws and regulations. Georgia-Pacific believes that environmental excellence is everybody's responsibility and environmental best practice is shared across 300 locations worldwide. Environmental progress has been tracked and reported publicly for the past 10 years.
Georgia-Pacific’s recycling of waste paper in its factories has always been the major source of fibre supply. This has meant an important contribution to the reduction of the landfill. Inevitably, water and energy are needed in paper manufacture as well as fibres however Georgia-Pacific always ensures that environmental best practise is used in its production proccesses. In 2007, we launched a pioneering initiative "Smile", primarily to help local authorities improve their green credentials by creating a zero "paper footprint". Whenever you see the "smile" logo you can be assured that you are buying a product that is made from 100% UK and Ireland recovered fibre. Our products are manufactured in the UK using locally sourced recovered fibre, keeping our recycling miles to an absolute minimum.
